\nBut then that’s always the way with this luxury gear: hideously gaudy exterior; pretty pedestrian insides.\n<\/p>\n

\nThe BlackBerry 7 OS has been given a new look, though again the changes are all cosmetic. It may have a custom Porsche Design font and icons, but it’s still standard old BlackBerry 7. That BBX handset<\/a><\/span> can’t come soon enough.\n<\/p>\n

\nUnder the stainless steel bonnet are a 1GHz processor, and it has a 5-megapixel camera that’s capable of 720p HD video. An NFC chip means you can communicate wirelessly with other handsets.\n<\/p>\n

\nIt was unveiled in Dubai, home of an Eiffel Tower that’s taller than the Parisian one<\/a>, so we suppose people living there might be more inclined\u00a0than us humble Brits\u00a0for this kind of thing. It’s clearly not for everyone, with the availability listed as “restrictive”. It’ll be available to those select few before the end of the year for a trifling $2,000 (\u00a31,250).<\/p>\n

\nRIM has been in the wars of late, being sued by another company<\/a><\/span> over its BBX name, as well as its own customers<\/a><\/span> following the BBM outage<\/a><\/span> that left them paralysed for three days. It also had to delay the PlayBook OS 2.0 update, and hold BBM for a later update, annoying customers even more.\n<\/p>\n
