While the Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 are Samsung’s latest releases, the Galaxy S22, S22 Plus and S22 Ultra are still the latest and most advanced phones in its flagship lineup. These are the successors to the previous-gen Galaxy S21, and the advanced Galaxy S22 Ultra has replaced the now-discontinued Note series. Some models even claimed a spot on our list of the best phones for 2022, and right now you can snag one at a discount. Below, we’ve rounded up some of the best deals, offers and promotions available from both carriers and retailers so you can get a new S22 phone in your hand for less.

The Galaxy S22, S22 Plus and S22 Ultra all feature several major camera improvements, including larger pixel sensors and Adaptive Pixel technology for improved nighttime photography and videos. There’s an improved portrait mode, as well as a new auto framing feature that can detect and track up to 10 people in order to capture everyone in a photo clearly.

However, it’s the Galaxy S22 Ultra that made the biggest splash. Samsung’s top-of-the-line phone introduces the S Pen to the S series for the first time, paying homage to the now-canceled Note.

The S22 Ultra also features significant camera upgrades, including Samsung’s largest pixel sensor ever, as well a number of raw photo tools for more comprehensive editing, and an advanced Super Clear Glass lens for smoother and crisper nighttime videos without flares.

We’ll take a closer look at all the details for each of the three flagship Galaxy S22 models and show you the best Galaxy S22 deals across the internet and in stores.

What colors does the Galaxy S22 come in?

Both the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus are available in phantom black, phantom white, green and pink gold. The Galaxy S22 Ultra has a slightly different lineup: phantom black, phantom white, green and burgundy.

How much does the Galaxy S22 cost?

The three models of the Galaxy S22 are available in various storage configurations. US pricing for each model starts at:

  • Samsung Galaxy S22: $800
  • Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus: $1,000
  • Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra: $1,200

Both the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus are available in 128GB and 256GB storage options with 8GB of RAM, while the Galaxy S22 Ultra will also add in options for 512GB and 1TB with up to 12GB of RAM.

Best Galaxy S22 deals

You might have missed the preorder offers, but most carriers and retailers are offering some stellar deals on these Galaxy S phones, especially if you’ve got an older device you’re looking to trade in. We’ve rounded up the best Galaxy S22 deals that you can shop for right now.

We will continue to update this page as new offers become available, so keep checking back if your carrier or preferred retailer is not listed below.

Samsung

Up to $800 off with trade-in plus a free memory upgrade

Samsung’s site is the obvious place to buy the newest Galaxy S22 phones, because it offers all the device configurations and has multiple payment options. Samsung offers carrier and unlocked models so you can choose between buying the phone outright, through carrier payments or financing it through Samsung, depending on your preference.

As of right now, Samsung is offering a free memory upgrade for all models, so you can get 256GB of storage for $100 off. Trading in your older phone, tablet or smart watch, including cracked or damaged devices, will save you up to $700 on the S22 and S22 Plus, or up to $800 on the S22 Ultra. You’ll also score $100 of free Samsung credit with the purchase of an S22 or S22 Plus, or $150 with the S22 Ultra.

All models are currently available, though a few of the Samsung exclusive color variants are backordered or out of stock at the moment.

Amazon

Up to $230 off unlocked models

If you don’t want the headache of navigating carriers, plans and installment payments, you’ll want an unlocked phone that you can purchase outright. You can save up to $40 on the S22, $244 on the S22 Plus or $230 on the S22 Ultra. Just note that discounts jump around quite a bit between different colors and configurations, so be sure to double-check before purchasing. All three models are currently in stock, though you will find a few select configurations that are currently unavailable.

See at AmazonYou’re receiving price alerts for Samsung Galaxy S22 (128GB, Phantom Black)

AT&T

Save up to $800 with trade-in

This time around, AT&T is getting far more aggressive with its trade-in offers on the Galaxy S22 devices. The carrier is matching Verizon’s offer from last year and is accepting select phones in any condition as a trade-in. If you have any Galaxy Note, S or Z Series phone from any year, you can get $800 off the Galaxy S22 devices, even if your trade-in is broken or doesn’t turn on. Trading in other phones or devices can still save you hundreds, but their condition will factor into the estimated value.

With this promotion, you can get the base Galaxy S22 for free via qualifying installment plan credits. The credits take place over a 36-month period, and if you cancel service before the 36 months is over you’ll have to pay the remaining balance. This means that you could technically pay as little as $0 for the Galaxy S22, under $6 per month for the Galaxy S22 Plus and about $11 per month for the S22 Ultra, but be aware that credits begin 90 days after purchase and require that you pay all taxes and associated fees on the retail price up front.

You can also save 50% on select Samsung accessories by adding them to your cart with the phone. All three Galaxy S22 models are available now and ship for free, with most colors and configurations ready to ship right away.

See at AT&T

Verizon

Up to $1,000 off with trade-in

If you’re a current Verizon subscriber or someone looking to make the switch to Verizon, there are some great discounts you can take advantage of. Those adding a new line can get the base S22 for free, or save up to $1,000 on the S22 Plus and Ultra. Those upgrading an existing line can get up to $800 off on all three models. Those switching a line over from another carrier will also get a $200 Verizon gift card.

You can even trade in broken or damaged phones, as long as the battery is intact, which is something that the carrier started doing last year. That means that you can get the S22 for free, and the S22 Ultra for as low as $11 per month. The discount will be applied via monthly bill credits, so you can’t get this offer when you purchase the phone outright. It’s also worth noting that Verizon is now using 36-month terms instead of 24-month terms, so you’ll want to make sure that works for you before placing your order.

And if you’re looking to buy a new smartwatch, Verizon is also offering up to $150 off select models with the purchase of any Android smartphone and activation on any data plan.

All three models are currently available with free two-day shipping.

Best Buy

Up to $1,000 off carrier models with trade-in

Best Buy now offers support for Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile upgrades and new lines both in-store and online, which means you can take advantage of some of the great carrier offers available at the moment. If you’re looking to trade in a device, you can save up to $1,000 through Verizon, $800 through AT&T or $395 through T-Mobile.

If you prefer an unlocked model, Best Buy also has its own trade-in program where you can save up to $900 by trading in select Samsung, Apple, or Google phones.

See at Best Buy

T-Mobile

Up to $800 with a new line, up to $400 with trade-in

T-Mobile usually goes all out for new phone releases with some pretty sweet deals for new customers and current ones alike. This time around, T-Mobile has two deals available: one for those with Magenta Max and one for those without.

Customers who are on Magenta Max plan can save $800 on all three models, scoring you the standard S22 for free, when adding a new line of service on your existing Magenta Max Plan. Those not on a Magenta Max Plan can save up to $400 by adding a new line of service on any qualifying plan. Customers on any qualifying rate plan can also save up to $400 when trading in an eligible device.

T-Mobile currently has all three models available, though select colors and configurations are currently backordered or out of stock.

Boost Mobile

Prepay and save up to $500

Boost Mobile is offering new and existing customers an excellent deal on Galaxy S22 devices. For a limited time, the carrier is offering a nice discount that brings the base price of the 128GB Galaxy S22 down to only $400, $400 off the usual price. You can also save $500 on the S22 Plus and Ultra, dropping the price down to just $500 and $700 respectively.

Since Boost Mobile is a prepaid carrier, you will need to buy the phone outright, but at this pricing it’s well worth it. All three phones are currently in stock, though you can only get the 128GB models with a limited selection of colors.

Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers began their 2022 campaign with a win Sunday night in Dallas. In Week 2 they will visit the New Orleans Saints, who are similarly undefeated after an improbable fourth-quarter comeback against the Atlanta Falcons.

The game will be shown on Fox in the Tampa and New Orleans areas on live TV streaming services, but there may be cases where you’re blocked because of an internet location glitch or just want an added layer of privacy for streaming. There’s an option that doesn’t require subscribing to something like NFL Sunday Ticket or NFL Plus, or searching the internet for a sketchy website: a virtual private network, or VPN.

Buccaneers vs. Saints: When and where?

For week 2 of the NFL season, the Bucs are taking on the Saints at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT. The game is set to take place in New Orleans at Caesars Superdome.

How to watch the Bucs vs. Saints game online from anywhere using a VPN

If you find yourself unable to view the game locally due to incorrectly applied blackout restrictions, you may need a different way to watch the game and that’s where using a VPN can come in handy. A VPN is also the best way to stop your ISP from throttling your speeds on game day by encrypting your traffic, and it’s also a great idea for when you may be traveling and find yourself connected to a Wi-Fi network and you want to add an extra layer of privacy for your devices and logins.

With a VPN, you’re able to virtually change your location on your phone, tablet or laptop to get access to the game. So if your internet provider or mobile carrier has stuck you with an IP address that incorrectly shows your location in a blackout zone, a VPN can correct that problem by giving you an IP address in your correct, non-blackout area. Most VPNs, like our Editors’ Choice ExpressVPN, make it really easy to do this.

Using a VPN to watch or stream sports is legal in any country where VPNs are legal, including the US and Canada, as long as you’ve got a legitimate subscription to the service you’re streaming. Of course you should be sure your VPN is set up correctly to prevent leaks. Even where VPNs are legal, the streaming service may terminate the account of anyone it deems to be circumventing correctly applied blackout restrictions.

Looking for other options? Be sure to check out some of the other great VPN deals taking place right now.

ExpressVPN

Best VPN for streaming

ExpressVPN is our current best VPN pick for people who want a reliable and safe VPN, and it works on a variety of devices. It’s normally $12.95 per month, and can sign up for ExpressVPN and save 49% plus get 3 months of access for free — the equivalent of $6.67 per month — if you get annual subscription.

Note that ExpressVPN offers a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Livestream the Bucs vs. Saints game in the US

This week’s Buccaneers vs. Saints game is on Fox, so in addition to a VPN you’ll need a live TV streaming service that carries a local Fox affiliate that is broadcasting the game. The least expensive such service is Sling TV Blue. You’ll need to be subscribed to Sling Blue to be able to watch the game, and you’ll need to switch your VPN to the Tampa Bay area (note that Sling Blue doesn’t have a local New Orleans Fox affiliate, so Tampa Bay is your only option).

Sling/CNET

Sling TV Blue

Carries the Tampa Bay Fox affiliate (WTVT)

Among the live TV streaming services that carry local Fox stations, the cheapest is Sling TV Blue at $35 per month. Note that Sling is currently running a promotion where the first month of service is half-price ($17.50) for new subscribers.

One important caveat: In our experience, Fox local affiliates will only be available if your billing address is in one of the 18 metropolitan areas covered in Sling’s agreement. If you’re outside of one of these areas, you’re probably better off going with one of the alternate services listed below.

$35 at Sling TV

Numerous other live TV streaming services carry local Fox stations as well, namely YouTube TV, Hulu Plus Live TV, DirecTV Stream and FuboTV. They all cost more than Sling TV, but they also carry more channels, including football-specific channels like ESPN, NFL Network and/or RedZone. Check out our live TV streaming channel guide for details.

Quick tips

  • As noted above, Sling Blue is only an option if and when the ability to get Fox local affiliates is active on your account. You may want to verify that your billing address is eligible for that option before committing your credit card.
  • With three variables at play — your ISP, video streaming provider and VPN — experience and success may vary. Our Fox-enabled Sling account worked on the first try on a PC, as did YouTube TV on a PC and Mac. But YouTube TV on our iPhone wouldn’t show different local stations even when the VPN was active.
  • Tampa isn’t a default option for ExpressVPN, but it’s available using the “search for city or country” option.

Apple’s new second-generation AirPods Pro are available to preorder at a variety of retailers. The original AirPods Pro released back in 2019 and since then, the only thing that’s changed is that Apple added MagSafe to the charging case. During September’s “Far Out” event, Apple announced the 2022 AirPods Pro that offer better noise cancellation, longer battery life and even a speaker in the charging case all without changing the price. There’s also a new personalized spatial audio feature along with new swipe gestures for controlling playback.

Our resident headphone expert, David Carnoy, was able to spend a little bit of time with the AirPods Pro (2nd Generation) following the event and was impressed by them. Despite using them in far from ideal conditions and without being able to use the music he generally uses for testing headphones, he said “I also thought the earbuds sounded cleaner and clearer than the original AirPods Pro while listening to a few tracks on Apple’s iPhone 14 demo phones.”

The new AirPods Pro retail for $249, but if they are anything like the previous generation we’ll see them on sale before we know it. We’ll keep our eyes peeled for any new AirPods Pro deals.

There are so many great deals on phones and phone plans available, but if you’re a T-Mobile user and want to take advantage of the absolute best T-Mobile deals happening now, we’ve got you covered. Since the majority of people want to upgrade the phones they currently have on the plans they already subscribe to, we aren’t highlighting offers that require you to add a new line. Because who wants a bunch of extra lines they don’t need? Instead, we’re focusing on deals that are available for current T-Mobile customers.

It’s also worth noting that carriers constantly update their deals. In fact, T-Mobile’s current offers are relatively tame, especially compared to some of the deals being dangled by Verizon and AT&T. The best offers usually happen around new phone launches (February or March for Samsung Galaxy S phones, September for Apple iPhones, fall for Google Android phones) or holidays.

On the bright side, the carrier tells CNET that unless specifically calling out Magenta Max, all voice lines generally qualify for these deals.

While some manufacturers, particularly Apple and Samsung, offer deals on their own websites and stores most people look to carriers to buy new devices. We’ll keep this page updated regularly with some of the best deals we’re seeing on T-Mobile’s website.

Best T-Mobile phone deals

Many of T-Mobile’s phone deals are available to both new and existing customers, though trade-ins are often required to get the advertised prices. It’s worth noting that these deals are split across 24 months of bill credits, meaning you’ll need to remain a T-Mobile customer for at least two years in order for the phone to get paid off as the terms state. And some have 36-month terms. If you cancel before that period is over you’ll be responsible for any remaining charges associated with it.

Our researched and curated deals picks are below, but if you’d like a more customized deeper dive, check out Navi, an independent marketplace (and CNET partner) that aggregates information on service plans and phone deals.

Apple iPhone 14 series

Up to $500 off

For existing T-Mobile customers who want to upgrade to one of the brand-new flagship devices in the Apple lineup, either the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max, there is a decent discount available.

You can trade in iPhones going back as far as the iPhone 7, but newer phones like the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max, Google’s Pixel 6 Pro or Samsung’s Galaxy S22 lineup will score you a higher discount. You must have an eligible plan and trade in a device that is in good condition, which will save you up to $500. Be sure to click on the deal sticker to see full details and find out how much of a discount your trade-in model will earn you.

Keep in mind that the trade-in credit is split up between 24 bill credits and that you will be responsible for any remaining charges if you transfer or cancel your service prior to that.

Both the Flip 4 and Fold 4 are offering up to $500 off with an eligible trade in, with the Fold 4 and Fold 3 being applied via 36 monthly bill credits and the Flip 4 and Flip 3 via 24 monthly bill credits.

Each device also has a broad list of eligible devices for getting the full discount, particularly Samsung devices with T-Mobile accepting the Galaxy S9 or newer. If you have a different phone you can still get $500 off if you’re trading in devices like an iPhone X (or later), OnePlus 8 5G (or later) or Pixel 5 (or later).

Other devices like the iPhone 6/7/8/SE, Galaxy S7 or A series or Pixel 3/3A/4/4A can get $200 off the S22 or $250 off the Z Fold 4. Just remember that the phone you’re trading in needs to be in “good condition.”

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4, Z Fold 4, Z Flip 3, Z Fold 3

Save up to $1,000 with Magenta Max

T-Mobile is upping the above deal on the Z lines for those who have or switch to its priciest unlimited plan, known as Magenta Max.

As opposed to giving $500 off for recent phones, those with Magenta Max can get up to $1,000 off (or $500 off for the older devices) the Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4, Z Fold 3 or Z Flip 3 when trading in a device.

Your trade-in still needs to be in good condition and the money will be dished out as bill credits. If you leave T-Mobile before the 24 months are up (or 36 months for the Z Fold 3 and Z Fold 4) you’ll need to pay off the balance owed.

It’s worth mentioning that while AT&T and Verizon allow family plans to have different unlimited plans for each line, T-Mobile does not. So if one of your lines wants to do this deal, you’ll need to bump up all lines to Magenta Max.

Google Pixel 6 series

Up to $300 off

Looking for the latest Google smartphone? If so, T-Mobile has some deals on both the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro right now. Existing T-Mobile subscribers can save between $150 and $300 on either device with a trade-in as old as the iPhone 6.

As with the iPhone 14 deal, the more modern device you trade in the better the deal. To get $300 off you’ll need to be swapping a Pixel 5, Galaxy S20 or Note 20 (or later), OnePlus 8 5G (or later) or iPhone X (or later).

The credits come in the form of 24 monthly bill credits. If you cancel or transfer service before the 24 months, you’ll be responsible for the balance.

OnePlus 10 Pro 5G

Get up to $400 off

OnePlus’ latest flagship device, the OnePlus 10 Pro 5G, is getting a decent discount at T-Mobile. The carrier is offering up to $400 off with trade-in of a device in good condition.

To get the full value you’ll need to trade in devices like an iPhone X (or later, up to the 128GB 13 Pro), OnePlus 8 5G (or later), Galaxy S20 or Note 10 (or later) or Pixel 5 (or later). Older devices can get up to $200 off.

As with the other deals the money will be dished out as bill credits over 24 months. If you leave T-Mobile before those two years are up you risk forfeiting the remaining credits and needing to pay off whatever is still owed.

Best T-Mobile plan deals

If you’re looking to make the switch to T-Mobile, there are a few deals on various plans that may make you lean towards one or the other. Promotions on plans are less common these days, though oftentimes you can get some free extras, like streaming service subscriptions, music subscriptions and extra travel data, with enrollment in some of the higher-end 5G plans from each carrier, including T-Mobile.

Buy 2 lines, get 1 free

Customers who are looking to move to T-Mobile and have three lines of service will be happy to hear that the carrier is offering a buy two, get one free promotion, meaning your third line won’t cost you anything. This works on the Essentials, Magenta and Magenta Max plans.

Military and first responders

Save $5

T-Mobile offers active-duty military, veterans and first responders $5 off the cost of monthly service, which brings the base price of the plans down a little per line with autopay enabled.

Discounts for those aged 55 or above

Save if you are over the age of 55

T-Mobile has a version of its budget-focused Essentials plan designed for those ages 55 or older. Called Unlimited Essentials 55 Plus, the plan offers two unlimited lines for $55 per month ($27.50 per line). The carrier also offers discounts for its Magenta ($70 per month for two lines) and Magenta Max ($90 per month for two lines). All are with automatic payments enabled, though Magenta and Magenta Max also include taxes and fees.

Compared to its regular rates, you could be saving $45 per month compared to the regular price for Essentials, or $50 compared to the regular rates of Magenta and Magenta Max.

One person on this plan will need to be above 55 years old to be eligible, though for the cheapest Essentials 55 Plus plan you are limited to a maximum of just two lines. If you only need one line, Essentials 55 Plus is $40 per month, Magenta is $50 per month and Magenta Max is $65 per month.

FAQs

Are T-Mobile deals available to existing or only new customers?

Up until recently, T-Mobile heavily favored new customers with its best deals, leaving those who were loyal to the carrier behind. That’s since changed, and now most of the offers are available for both new and existing customers under the same terms.

How do T-Mobile’s discounts work?

It’s easy to see up to $800 off the price of something and get excited, but you’ll want to make sure you know what you’re signing up for. T-Mobile applies these discounts as bill credits that are usually spread out across a 24-month period. Sometimes, part of the discount amount is given in the form of a prepaid gift card (for a trade-in) and the rest is done as bill credits, but that’s specified when it’s happening.

What happens if you leave T-Mobile before the 24 months is up?

If you don’t stick with T-Mobile through the full 24 months of bill credits, you’ll be responsible for all the remaining charges. Before canceling or transferring your service to another carrier, be sure to reach out to T-Mobile to understand the actual cost of what you’ll owe to ensure you can cover that before making the move.

While you might not be able to walk into your carrier’s store and get your hands on a new phone for $100 or less, that doesn’t mean there aren’t still tons of great deals you can take advantage of right now.

Over the past few years, carriers including Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile have become far more aggressive with deals for both new and existing customers as they continue to push their 5G networks. These days it’s not out of the ordinary to find deals that can score you a new high-end phone for free, but you often need to be on one of the carriers’ higher-end 5G plans and agree to monthly bill credits over a 24- to 36-month period, which locks you into that service. If you cancel before then you’re on the hook for the difference.

Carrier phone deals

Carrier contracts as we know them may not be around anymore, but these newer phone deals from Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and more are similar in many ways. Through monthly bill credits, you can get a phone for next to nothing in many cases, but the stipulation is that you have to remain a customer for a set length of time while you’re receiving the credits, otherwise you’re responsible for the remaining costs and potentially more, depending on the carrier. In addition, some carriers will only allow you to take advantage of these deals on specific plans, which are usually some of their more expensive 5G plans, so be sure to understand the monthly costs associated with switching before taking advantage of that “free phone” deal you see advertised.

The post Amazon Prime Day 2022: Second ‘Prime Early Access Sale’ Event and More first appeared on Joggingvideo.com.

This story is part of Amazon Prime Day, CNET’s guide to everything you need to know and how to find the best deals.

Rumors are heating up about a potential second Amazon Prime Day. This would follow the first one, which took place in July 2022 and Amazon claimed it to be one of the company’s best shopping events to dates. Since its inception back in 2015, Amazon has held Prime Day once a year but this year things may be different. The rumors that are circulating point to a “Prime Early Access Sale,” which could be coming in October. This would make sense as Amazon will look to capture early holiday shopper interest.

It’s still unclear whether this will be a full Amazon Prime Day style event with 48 hours of discounts or if it will just be a kickstart of the holiday shopping season ahead of Black Friday. Let’s break down everything we know about Amazon Prime Day and what we’ve heard about the rumored Prime Early Access Sale.

Will there be a second Amazon Prime Day event this year?

Given the success of Prime Day, we’ve seen regular rumors that Amazon could move to a twice-a-year format in order to juice sales in the summer and the fall. Ahead of this year’s official Prime Day event in July, we saw reports that Amazon plans to hold a second Prime Day-like sale later in the year with Amazon said to have informed certain third-party merchants about a “Prime Fall deal event.”

Later in July, it was again reported that Amazon is planning a second Prime Day-like deals event for October. The event, said to be called Prime Early Access Sale according to internal documents seen by Insider, is expected to run for two days and is described as a “high velocity” sales event that will offer, “early access to exclusive high caliber-T5 quality deals when Prime members least expect it.”

As it stands now, this is all rumor. It wouldn’t be overly surprising to see Amazon try to get out ahead of the competition in October before the Black Friday month-long sales kick off in November.

When is the second Prime Day 2022 sale rumored to happen?

Though it’s unlikely to take the “Prime Day” moniker in official advertising, recent reports point to an October timeframe for Amazon’s second Prime-exclusive sale of 2022. The event has not yet been officially announced, though it’s expected to be a two-day event similar to Prime Day.

Historically, Amazon has held its Prime Day sales each July with just a couple of deviations from that regular schedule. Notably, in 2020, Amazon pushed its Prime Day sale to October due to the COVID-19 pandemic before returning it to the summer in 2021 in a slightly earlier June spot. Prime Day moved back to July in 2022, though it seems Amazon may be earmarking that October slot once again for its rumored Prime Early Access Sale.

As a reference, here are the Prime Day dates from previous years:

  • Prime Day 2015: July 15
  • Prime Day 2016: July 12
  • Prime Day 2017: July 11 to 12 (first to last longer than one day)
  • Prime Day 2018: July 16 to 17
  • Prime Day 2019: July 15 to 16
  • Prime Day 2020: Oct. 13 to 14 (delayed by COVID-19 pandemic)
  • Prime Day 2021: June 21 to 22 (the earliest to date)
  • Prime Day 2022: July 12 to 13

Second Prime Day vs. Black Friday: What about the deals?

With the two events potentially happening so close together again this year, odds are you’ll be a little nervous about buying something in October that usually goes on sale for Black Friday in November. We anticipate that Amazon will likely have some type of “pricing guarantee” or similar to advertise that gives consumers peace of mind that the prices they are buying items for now are the same that they’ll find during Black Friday deals.

Amazon just released a “Toys We Love” list, which highlights some of the year’s bestsellers ahead of the upcoming holidays. Some of them have “preorder price guarantees” already, so it wouldn’t be out of line to think Amazon will do the same if it hosts an event next month.

Why did Prime Day start?

Amazon has been hosting its annual Prime Day sale since 2015. Originally, it was a 24-hour sales event to celebrate Amazon’s 20th birthday. The “Prime” in the name refers to Amazon’s subscription service, which offers free delivery on many products in as little as one to two days, and which has now expanded to encompass the Netflix-style Prime Video service and various other Amazon-related perks

Prime Day soon became a version of “Black Friday in July” for Amazon, allowing the retailer to have a branded 48-hour shopping extravaganza in an otherwise sleepy retail season. Unlike Black Friday, however, the Prime Day branding lets Amazon differentiate its summer sale from competitors while selling Prime memberships and Amazon-branded hardware such as Echo speakers and Fire tablets, which encourage customers to stay in the Amazon ecosystem. The fact that the sale also allows Amazon and its partners to clear out inventory and warehouse space ahead of the holiday shopping season doesn’t hurt, either.

How does Prime Day work?

The idea behind Prime Day is a simple one: Subscribers to Amazon’s Prime service can get exclusive discounts on thousands of products and services across the site during a limited period of time. The products, while still available to non-Prime members, will have extra savings for members, dropping many of their prices down to new all-time lows.

When you’re logged in to your Prime account and looking at a product landing page, you’ll see the discounted price if it’s on sale. You don’t need any special coupon codes, nor is there a need to use a specific payment method in order to get the discounts.

We expect the rumored Prime Early Access Sale to work similarly, though the name suggests that non-Prime members may be able to get in on the action at some point.

How long will the Prime Early Access Sale last?

Similar to Prime Day 2022, it is expected that October’s Prime Early Access Sale will run for two days though an official timeframe, or even the event’s existence, has not yet been confirmed by Amazon. It’s still unclear whether there will be Lightning deals that surface throughout the event or if it will be just a new set of daily deals each day.

What countries can participate in the Prime Early Access Sale?

We don’t yet know in which regions and countries Amazon will launch its Prime Early Access Sale, though it’s likely that if you had access to Prime Day 2022 then you will be able to take part in the rumored October sale.

Amazon expanded the reach of Prime Day in 2022 by bringing it to Poland and Sweden in July, with customers in Egypt experiencing a Prime Day for the first time this year too. For reference, here’s the full list of countries that participated in Prime Day 2022:

  • Austria
  • Australia
  • Belgium
  • Brazil
  • Canada
  • China
  • France
  • Germany
  • Italy
  • Japan
  • Luxembourg
  • Mexico
  • Netherlands
  • Portugal
  • Singapore
  • Spain
  • United Kingdom
  • United States
  • Poland
  • Sweden
  • India
  • Saudi Arabia
  • United Arab Emirates
  • Egypt

Do you need to be a Prime Member to shop Prime Early Access Sale?

Just like Prime Day, we expect that the Prime Early Access Sale will require a Prime subscription to nab Prime-exclusive pricing, though the name of the event does leave open the opportunity for non-Prime members to snag the deals at a later date with your Prime membership merely granting early access. Since the event has not been officially announced, the finer details are yet to be revealed.

Amazon earlier this year raised prices on Prime membership. It’s now $15 a month ($139 a year).

Will other retailers participate in the Prime Early Access Sale?

Each year, we see retailers like eBay, Best Buy and Walmart kick off July sales in order to try and compete with Amazon Prime Day and 2022 was no different. Given the rumored Prime Early Access Sale’s proximity to Black Friday sales, it’s possible that we’ll see several weeks of sales ahead of the traditional Black Friday weekend as was the case back in 2020 when Amazon moved its Prime Day sale to October due to the pandemic.

Best Amazon Prime Day 2022 deals

Though Prime Day 2022 is over and its best deals have long since expired, we can use it to gain some insight into the sort of deals we might see during Amazon’s rumored Prime Early Access Sale in October. Below are a few of our top picks from Prime Day 2022.

  • Echo Dot (fourth gen): On sale for $20
  • Echo Show 5 (second-gen): On sale for $35

Best Galaxy S22 deals

You might have missed the preorder offers, but most carriers and retailers are offering some stellar deals on these Galaxy S phones, especially if you’ve got an older device you’re looking to trade in. We’ve rounded up the best Galaxy S22 deals that you can shop for right now.

We will continue to update this page as new offers become available, so keep checking back if your carrier or preferred retailer is not listed below.

Samsung

Up to $800 off with trade-in

Samsung’s site is the obvious place to buy the newest Galaxy S22 phones, because it offers all the device configurations and has multiple payment options. Samsung offers carrier and unlocked models so you can choose between buying the phone outright, through carrier payments or financing it through Samsung, depending on your preference.

As of right now, Samsung isn’t offering any straightforward discounts, but you can save big with an eligible trade-in. Trading in your older phone, tablet or smart watch, including cracked or damaged devices, will save you up to $700 on the S22 and S22 Plus, or up to $800 on the S22 Ultra.

All models are currently available, though the Samsung exclusive color variants will take an extra three or four weeks to ship.

See at Samsung

Amazon

Up to $200 off unlocked models

If you don’t want the headache of navigating carriers, plans and installment payments, you’ll want an unlocked phone that you can purchase outright. You can save $100 on the S22 and S22 Plus, or up to $200 on the S22 Ultra.

Those adding a new line will also get a $200 Verizon gift card.

And if you’re looking to buy a new smartwatch, Verizon is also offering up to $70 off a Galaxy Watch 4 or Watch 4 Classic with the purchase of any Android smartphone and activation on any data plan.

All three models are currently available with free two-day shipping.

See at Verizon

Best Buy

Save up to $1,100 with select trade-ins, up to $150 on unlocked models

Best Buy now offers support for Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile upgrades and new lines both in-store and online, which means you can take advantage of some of the great carrier offers available at the moment. If you’re looking to trade in a device, you can save up to $1,100 through Verizon, $1,050 through AT&T or $730 through T-Mobile.

There is also a somewhat misleading deal available on unlocked models of the standard S22 and the S22 Ultra. Supposedly, you’ll have to choose same-day activation through one of the qualifying carriers to get $100 off the S22 or $150 off the S22 Ultra, which essentially defeats the purpose of an unlocked phone. However, you can get the same price when you choose the “activate later” option. Best Buy also has its own trade-in program where you can save up to $900 by trading in select Samsung, Apple, or Google phones.

Prepay and save up to $400

This story is part of Amazon Prime Day, CNET’s guide to everything you need to know and how to find the best deals.

Investing in a webcam can greatly improve the quality of your video calls. In recent years, video calls have become an important part of our daily lives, facilitating communication from a distance. Whether you’re catching up with friends, talking to family or working remotely, video conferencing and video calling have become vital to keeping in touch. Purchasing a quality webcam can ensure that your video calls have clear sound and image for the duration of your call, making communication that much easier.

Laptop webcams are not always the best option for video calls. They can be low-quality, and the webcam might not be in the best position for your needs. A separate webcam can give you a better image and has features that most built-in cameras lack. While video quality may not be the most important part of the call, it never hurts to look good while chatting with friends and co-workers. Using a great webcam will help you look and sound more professional, and there are some solid deals on webcams worth taking advantage of right now.
