Funko

The Haunted Mansion Disneyland Edition: $13

Ravensburger

Villainous: $35

Save $5

Ravensburger can be hit or miss when it comes to board games, but Villainous is one of its better efforts. You play as one of the notorious villains from Disney’s animated movies, and you have to complete your story before those pesky heroes ruin everything.

It’s a lot of fun for anyone who loves Disney, as we do in our house, and there are a lot of expansions too, including Marvel villains.

Buffalo Games

Wonka Golden Ticket: $16

Save $4

Golden Ticket is a simple game full of the nostalgia associated with the Roald Dahl classic. The imagery from this game pulls heavily from the 1971 movie, which starred Gene Wilder, and has players moving around the city looking for that elusive golden ticket.

It’s a lot of fun, especially if you try to embody those characters from the movie who you get to play as.

Gloomhaven: $106

Save $59

Gloomhaven is an excellent pick for those looking for a bit more of a challenge. This RPG-lite board game was named one of our favorite co-op games for 2023, and blends dungeon crawling and classic board game mechanics. Betrayal at the House on the Hill: $28

This 3rd edition cooperative board game is definitely for older kids, recommended for ages 12 and up. However, if something a little spooky sounds like the right fit for you, Betrayal at House on the Hill from Hasbro is an option worth checking out. It’s over 50% off right now and allows up to six players 60 to 90 minutes of play in a haunted house they must work together to survive.

Iello

King of Tokyo: New Edition: $36

Save $9

If you have a young family, King of Tokyo is an excellent infection vector. You get to play as a giant Kaiju out to destroy Tokyo and you must fight each other for supremacy. It’s a simple dice-rolling game where you “spend dice” to buy cards and use those cards to power up your Kaiju. It’s fast and, more importantly, it’s engaging enough for young kids.

$36 at AmazonYou’re receiving price alerts for King of Tokyo: New Edition: $36

Kids Against Maturity

Kids Against Maturity: $26

Save $4

You’ve probably heard about Cards Against Humanity, a party game that’s often too rude for young kids to play. Kids Against Maturity takes the same game premise — the person who makes the judge laugh the most wins the hand — but makes it just a little naughty instead. This is a great entry to family night and lets your kids feel like they’re getting away with something they shouldn’t be doing, but with your guidance and consent. It’s a lot of fun for everyone. You can also save a few extra dollars by activating the instant coupon on the product page.

$26 at Amazon

Looney Labs

Looney Labs Fluxx (Special Edition): $13

Save $3

Now I know this isn’t the biggest savings in the world, but Fluxx is just so good that any discount is reason enough to pick it up. The game is a simple card game with just a few rules: draw one card, play one card. The complexity occurs when you play rules that counteract those first rules, or change the goal of the game, or change seats with the person to your left. It all gets very jumbled, which is what makes it so great.

Samsung has made some of the best TVs around for a long time now, so any time its TVs are reduced in price it is worth taking notice of. Whether you are looking for a good-sized 43-inch, or a whopping 85-inch 8K monster, Samsung offers something for everyone.

Right now, Best Buy has a sale that will let you save up to $700 on select Samsung TVs so now is a great time to pick up a new 4K or even 8K TV if you are so inclined.

See at Best Buy

There are a lot of different models to choose from in this Samsung sale so it is worth your time to scroll through and find the best bargain. While saving $700 on a 65-Inch 8k QLED TV sounds amazing, the price is still $3,499 so not exactly in the budget price range.

I really like the $150 savings on the 65-inch Class Q60A Series QLED 4K which brings the price to a reachable $799 while still offering excellent visuals and all the smarts you could want in a TV.

If you really want something unique though, the Samsung Sero is also available with a $400 saving. Its motorized platform lets you rotate the TV so that it can be viewed in both traditional landscape mode, or in portrait mode so it is easier to watch things like YouTube Shorts or TikTok. It’s available for $1,100 on this Best Buy sale and is something that none of your friends are likely to have!

I spend a lot of my time waxing lyrical about the applications of 3D printing. Mostly I talk about hobbyists or small businesses making bespoke stuff on Etsy. This week, though, I got to look at something a little different that uses 3D printing in a way that helps you, the customer. Jenny Wu is a Los Angeles-based jewelry designer that uses her architectural background to create complex designs for her necklaces, rings and bracelets. Her company, Lace by Jenny Wu, 3D prints a lot of beautiful designs using SLS — Selective Laser Sintering — to essentially melt a powder into shape using lasers as well as printing them in a wax that can then be cast from silver. This gives a few different textures and grains to the final product that I think enhances the look of the piece.

A collection of 3d printed rings. Some in nylon, others in silver and bronzeA collection of 3d printed rings. Some in nylon, others in silver and bronze

Lace by Jenny Wu

Now, making jewelry from 3D printers is nothing new, even though I do particularly like the look of these specific rings. They look like something an elf would wear. What really caught my attention with Lace is the sample boxes for its rings. According to the company, rings are the most returned item, mainly because of sizing issues, but people look at the convoluted designs and aren’t sure if it will look good on their hand.

Lace leveraged the power of the 3D printers it already had to create nylon versions of its most popular designs that you can purchase for just $3 a ring or $5 for a pack of three. The samples are sent to you in any size you need and are yours to keep, whether you buy the full metal version or not. It gives you a chance to test fit the rings from your own home in the same way you could if you were in the store, without having to be in LA.

Close-up on a ring with a mobius twistClose-up on a ring with a mobius twist

James Bricknell / CNET

The samples are made using the Fuse 1 SLS 3D printer from Formlabs and have a delicate feel that would be hard to reproduce on even the best 3D printers suitable for your home. The texture is perhaps a little rough, but these are samples, designed to be worn for a short period of time to get a feel for how the ring looks on your hand. My wife and I both tried the samples, and while they are much lighter than an average ring, you can immediately see how the real deal would look. The Amare ring shown in the picture above was my wife’s favorite, and while I love the Papilo ring in the top image, she didn’t like the way it sat on her hand.

Using 3D printing in this way is something new to commerce and its applications are far-reaching for both businesses and consumers alike. Having a cheap sample that you can hold in your hand and try on in the comfort of your own home is worth the extra few dollars you spend to get it, and when you do decide to buy the product you have a cool sample to keep as well. For Lace, it gets to expand its reach beyond the LA area and cut back on expensive returns, some of which are likely to be lost in the mail, or damaged as a result of travel. It’s a win-win for everyone.

3D printing is my passion and I love to see it used in a way that makes sense, and adds value to everyone. I really hope we see more of this in the coming years. If you are interested in trying a sample from Lace, then click the link above and go check it out. You can even get yourself $15 off the list price of your first order with the code CNET15.

Update, Sept. 14: Anycubic was originally running this offer until Oct. 3, but has since extended it out till Oct. 10, so you have plenty of time to snap up a new 3D printer. Original story follows.

Anycubic is well known for 3D printers like the Vyper — often found at the top of our best 3D printer list — and the giant Kobra Max, but these printers come almost complete. Four screws are normally all it takes to put them together, and while that’s great for beginners and those who want to get started straight away, it doesn’t give you any insight into how a 3D printer works.

The new $189 Kobra Go hopes to fill that gap with a budget-friendly kit that you can build yourself. Most kits are either extremely high-end or don’t have modern features like auto bed leveling or power-out detection. The Kobra Go comes with Anycubic’s LeviQ auto bed level system as standard and even has an option to buy a filament runout sensor as an upgrade.

Having auto leveling on a sub-$200 machine is frankly amazing, and makes the Kobra Go worthy of the time it would take to build it. Even the build volume is good at 220 by 220mm. It may not be the biggest printer, but that is a reasonable size for a printer this cheap.

Anycubic Kobra Go

$189 at Anycubic

Right now, Anycubic has the Kobra Go available on its website as an early-bird special for just $189 until Oct. 10. After that, the price goes up to $209 — still a fantastic price. Plus, if you’re fast you can knock another $20 off if you use PayPal to process the payment, bringing the total cost down to just $169. That is an excellent price for a 3D printer kit with these premium features.

It costs less than ever to get into 3D printing, with printers available for under $200. The catch is that these budget machines usually require some tweaking to get right. You’ll save money, but it’s a rough and tumble way to get started.

3D printing — or additive manufacturing to give it its scientific name — has been around a long time now. It’s a fun way to create models that can be practical, or just for fun. You can print giant pieces of cosplay armor, or small statues to give as gifts. You can even buy a few printers, open your own Etsy store and make yourself a tidy profit.

These budget 3D printers all cost under $500 (though prices can drift a bit month to month), and some are better suited to beginners than others. Our list of picks for best 3D printer overall covers a much wider range of choices, but these are excellent for getting started or for buying several at once!

Dan Ackerman/CNET

Anycubic Vyper

Our top pick

The Anycubic Vyper is easily the best budget 3D printer available now. Unlike a lot of other low-cost printers, the Vyper includes high-end features that make the entire experience better. There’s a filament run-out sensor and a power loss detector. The automatic bed leveling helps produce a worry-free finished product.

Creality

Creality Ender 3

Community favorite

The Ender 3 is one of the bestselling 3D printers of all time. Its under-$200 price removes a huge barrier to entry for anyone looking to spend as little as possible for their first machine.

Its popularity means there is a huge community of people to help you get it set up and working — it’s not exactly plug-and-play — and you may need to spend a fair amount of time tweaking the Ender 3 to get it to print as well.

Prusa Research

Prusa Mini Plus

Small but mighty

The Mini Plus is one of the best small-footprint printers you can buy. It has everything you would expect from a Prusa machine: Auto bed leveling, crash detection and great print quality, all for under $450. Building it with my son gave us a lot of good insights into how a 3D printer works, and potentially how to fix one.

Elegoo Neptune 2

Keep it simple

The Elegoo is one of my favorite ultra-cheap printers. When testing it, I kept expecting it to fail and it just didn’t. It produced amazing results for the price, and continues to do so every time I use it. It doesn’t have auto bed leveling, but the Elegoo was easy to set up. And because it’s based on the popular Ender 3, it has a lot of mods available to make it even better.

$180 at Amazon

Dan Ackerman/CNET

Creality Ender 3 S1

Direct drive with advanced features

As Dan Ackerman said in his review of the Creality Ender 3 S1 “At $399, the S1 version of the Ender-3 is about $100 more than older versions but includes so many upgrades and quality of life features that it qualifies as a great beginner-friendly, plug-and-play printer.”

It’s also a great budget-friendly Direct Drive printer, making it easier to use for materials such as TPU.

Resin 3D printers for beginners

Most beginner printers use plastic filament to create models, but there are plenty of affordable resin 3D printers, too. Liquid resin is a little more difficult to use than standard 3D printing material, and requires safety equipment. But it also produces amazingly detailed results.

Elegoo

Elegoo Mars 3

The best starter resin printer

This small resin printer is Elegoo’s latest model in its popular Mars line. Because of the 4K monochrome LCD (these printers use light from an LCD to cure liquid resin) it can print much faster than older printers. The level of detail on models is something that standard 3D printing simply can’t reproduce. At this price, the Elegoo Mars 3 is the best resin printer for the money.

$255 at Amazon

James Bricknell/CNET

Anycubic Mono X

When you need it bigger

This is expensive for a budget printer, but well worth it if you want a large enough print area to make something special. I have been using this as my main resin printer and it can handle anything I throw at it, from a D&D miniature army to highly detailed sculptures.

Frequently asked questions

What material should I use to print with?

Most home 3D printers use PLA or ABS plastic. Professional printers can use all sorts of materials, from metal to organic filament. Some printers use a liquid resin, which is much more difficult to handle but offers sharper details. As a beginner, use PLA. It’s non-toxic, made mostly of cornstarch and sugarcane, handles easily, and is inexpensive. However, it’s more sensitive to heat, so don’t leave your 3D prints on the dashboard of a car on a hot day.

What settings should I use?

Most 3D printers include or link to recommended software, which can handle converting 3D STL or other files into formats supported by the printer. Stick with the suggested presets to start, with one exception. I’ve started adding a raft, or bottom layer of filament, to nearly everything I print. It has cut down dramatically on prints that don’t adhere to the bed properly, which is a common issue. If you continue to have problems, rub a standard glue stick on the print bed right before printing.

What are supports?

Your 3D models probably need some help to print properly, as these printers don’t do well with big overhangs — for example, an arm sticking out from a figure. Your 3D printer software can usually automatically calculate and add supports, meaning little stands that hold up all those sticking-out parts of the model. After the print is done, clip the supports off with micro cutters and file down any nubs or rough edges with hobby files.

How we test

Testing 3D printers is an in-depth process. Printers often don’t use the same materials, or even the same process to create models. I test SLA, 3D printers that use resin and light to print, and FDM, printers that melt plastic onto a plate. Each has a unique methodology. Core qualifiers I look at include:

  • Hardware quality
  • Ease of setup
  • Bundled software
  • Appearance and accuracy of prints
  • Repairability
  • Company and community support

A key test print, representing the (now old) CNET logo, is used to assess how a printer bridges gaps, creates accurate shapes and deals with overhangs. It even has little towers to help measure how well the 3D printer deals with temperature ranges.

Four 3D printed models that show errors from 3D printingFour 3D printed models that show errors from 3D printing

James Bricknell/CNET

Testing resin requires different criteria so I use the Amerilabs standard test — printing out a small resin model that looks like a tiny town. This helps determine how accurate the printer is, how it deals with small parts and how well the UV exposure works at different points in the model.

Many other anecdotal test prints, using different 3D models, are also run on each printer.

For the other criteria, I research the company to see how well it responds to support queries from customers and how easy it is to order replacement parts and install them yourself. Kits (printers that come only semi-assembled) are judged by how long, and how difficult, the assembly process is.

Anycubic

Anycubic Kobra: $270

Save $90

Printing giant prints is the most fun you can have with a 3D printer. We recently reviewed the Kobra and gave it a solid 8.5 out of 10. With $90 off the normal price, it’s an excellent printer. If you’re just getting started but want something with a few more advanced features, grab a Kobra while you can.

$270 at Amazon

Anycubic

Anycubic Mono X: $380

Save $70

If you are looking to print Dungeons and Dragons miniatures or models with fine details, then a screen with a higher resolution is key. The Mono X has a 4K screen that allows for gorgeous details in even the smallest models. Its larger build plate lets you print more models at the same time.

$380 at Amazon

Elegoo

Elegoo Saturn S resin 3D printer: $400

Save $135

The Saturn S is an excellent upgrade to Elegoo’s OG midsize resin printer. The 4K screen is excellent and the print quality is fantastic for a larger resin printer. The Saturn S has the size advantage over printers like the Mono 4K as its build area is almost twice as big. It’s perfect for making intricate pieces for cosplay, or models for your home.

$400 at Amazon

Anycubic

Anycubic Mono 4K: $230

Save $20 with coupon

The Photon 4K is being replaced with the new M3 series, but it could still be worth your time. With a 4K monochrome screen, the printer is very fast without sacrificing any detail. In fact, the details on this machine are superb, especially on small models like miniatures.

At $230, the Photon 4K offers an amazing entry into resin 3D printing, even if Anycubic is selling off the stock.

$230 at Amazon

Materials and accessories

It’s not just the 3D printers themselves that are on sale. It’s often the accessories and materials too. While the savings aren’t as drastic — $5 to $10 savings, maybe — these add up over time when you have to buy a lot of materials for your projects.

Elegoo

Elegoo Mercury X Bundle: $180

Save $34 with coupon

Resin 3D printing can be messy and inconvenient if you don’t have the right tools. This wash-and-cure bundle lets you clean your resin prints and cure them in the special UV chamber. I like the Mercury over other wash/cure stations because of the separate stations that let you wash one model and cure another, saving you precious time.

Anycubic is a fairly well-known and trusted brand in the 3D-printing world, and is routinely placed high in our list of the best 3D printers. Both the company’s Resin and FDM printers tend to be of good quality and have advanced features that make them stand out from the crowd. To celebrate its seventh anniversary, Anycubic has a sale on a lot of different printers and materials. The discounts are light on some of them but heavy on others, and it will depend on what type of 3D printer you want as to how good the pricing is.

Anycubic Mono X

$349 at Anycubic

My personal favorite on the sale is the Anycubic Photon Mono X. It’s a medium-size printer that has a build plate big enough to print around 30 tabletop miniatures at a time or a large, intricate piece of jewelry or cosplay costume. I managed to print an entire dagger from Dune on the Mono X that looks stunning.

Anycubic’s sale brings the price of the Mono X to just $349, a nearly $250 saving from its launch price and a $100 saving on its average price from around the internet. It’s also worth noting that Anycubic is discounting a lot of its materials like resin and PLA filament, so if you’re going to grab a new 3D printer, you may as well stock up on your materials for it too.

One of Apple’s smartest moves was to let people replace the band on the Apple Watch with a third-party option. Having that choice means that no matter what event you’re going to, or what activity you’re engaged in, you can wear your Apple Watch, with no need to buy a different timepiece. If you’re on the fence about buying an Apple Watch, maybe these flashy bands will help you take the leap.

Apple Watch Series 7

CNET team members use plenty of different straps in their day-to-day lives, and of course, we all have our favorites. Some of us like things to be super simple, while others like a lot of variety and patterns. But all the bands on this list are excellent quality and suit our purposes well.

Nomad

Nomad Sport Band

Quality and performance

I’ve tried out a lot of different Apple Watch straps, and I’ve always liked the look and feel of the Nike Sport Band. But this one beats even that. It has a slightly less sporty and more rugged look, and the materials feel premium and like they’re designed to hold up well. It comes in a few different color options, but I’ve yet to remove the Marine Blue one since I got it.The clasp holds nice and secure, so I don’t really have to worry about my watch falling off. I’ve been using this band for a few months now and recommend the product to everyone. I’ve received more compliments about the band than I can remember. Nomad makes some really high-quality accessories for Apple gear, and this is no exception.

Apple Sport Band

The original and best

I’ve used just about every fitness watch strap made by Apple and third parties, but I always come back to the standard Apple Sport Band. It isn’t the most comfortable band I’ve ever worn, but it’s the easiest to clean by far, and the colors haven’t faded at all, despite my constant use in sunlight.

Marge Plus

A classic strap aesthetic

I’ll be honest: I picked this strap pretty much at random because I liked the weathered, faux leather earth-tone look in the photo — and the incredibly low price. But six months later, I’m really liking it. It’s comfy, and it’s held up nicely, despite a couple of unintended dunkings. What more could you want for such a low price?

Toyouths Elastic Apple Watch Band

Simple and springy

I need my Apple Watch band to be completely unfussy. I don’t want to fiddle with buckles — I just want to slip on my watch and go. This inexpensive band is perfect for just that. It’s a single strip of elastic without any sliders or anything else to adjust. It’s soft and stretchy enough to hold the watch firmly against my wrist so that the heart rate monitor sensors work correctly, without being too tight.I can vouch only for the styles where the design is woven into the band (not the solid color or printed options). I first bought the Neon Orange color, and that’s the one I still use today. I bought a second band, the solid Wine color option, and it’s stiff and scratchy by comparison.

Spigen

Spigen Rugged Armor Apple Watch Band

Protection from every angle

When I’m not using the above-mentioned Nomad Sport Band, my other go-to Apple Watch strap is the Spigen Rugged Armor. The style is totally different, but as someone who’s into G-Shock watches, I absolutely love the way this one looks and feels. Instead of sliding the band in on each side, you snap your Apple Watch into this, and it provides protection for the sides of the watch as well.It comes in a few different colors, and I think right now I own them all. It doesn’t make the buttons any harder to press either, which is a huge advantage. If you’re someone who’s rough on your Apple Watch, this is a great option to consider.

Most people don’t think they need a printer in their home, but there are those moments in life where you’ll find you need one. While printers used to be exorbitantly expensive, it’s now worth it to own an affordable printer for those times — that way, you don’t have to rush to a printing store for any important documents you need. Being self-reliant is important, which is why we’ve tested a number of models to find the best printers available in 2022.

Every printer profiled below can manage basic printing needs. For example, they can handle mobile printing and wireless printing from a phone or any PC, Mac or Chromebook. They can also print over a cabled connection and via wireless printer connectivity. (Note that some — but not all — printers support Apple’s AirPrint and Google’s Cloud Print protocols, which are usually less onerous than the printer vendors’ proprietary systems.)

But what you intend to print will determine which model is right for you. If you’re mostly working with shopping lists, concert tickets or travel itineraries, print quality is arguably less important than print speed and price. If you’re using your printer for professional materials or photo printing, then color accuracy, printing quality and the inclusion of features like borderless printing will be primary considerations when you’re looking for the right printer.

Another factor to consider is the cost of ink and making sure that you have enough ink to print everything you need (there’s nothing more frustrating than having a printer but no ink in the ink tank for printing). Inkjet printers use liquid ink to print, whereas laser printers use toner cartridges containing powder. So even if you’re getting a great printer deal, just be sure to do some research into how you’ll refill the ink. Several new printers are also on offer complete with ink subscriptions so that may be something to consider as well.

We’ve tested and reviewed the top models for home and small office use from the four major printer manufacturers: Brother, Canon, Epson and HP. Whether you print for business or personal use, at home or in an office, we’ve got the best printer for you. While several models on this list are no longer available or are wildly overpriced because of limited stock, we are currently in the process of testing a new round of printers and will update this list with our latest picks shortly. Check back soon for our most up-to-date choices on the best printers for this year.

HP DeskJet 3755

Best cheap printer

Even if you almost never need a printer, when you need a printer, you really need one. This HP DeskJet, which is a cheap portable printer, tiny and unassuming, will be there for you. This HP printer has no flatbed scanner or copier bed, so it folds up into a compact 16 by 7 by 5.5 inches — about the size of a large loaf of bread. There’s a foldable rear tray for paper, a top-mounted scanner and an output tray, but it’s so small you can easily store it on a desktop or shelf. You don’t have to worry about running out of ink while printing if you sign up for an HP instant ink subscription account when setting up your printer. A new HP instant ink cartridge is automatically sent to you when ink levels get low. You can cancel the subscription at any time.

Quality isn’t the point. It’s not a workhorse. Print quality isn’t extraordinary. But HP DeskJet 3755 is cheap, unobtrusive and ready for basic jobs when you need it.

HP LaserJet Pro M15w

Best printer for tight spaces

If space is tight but you need to print shipping labels, shopping lists or homework assignments a few times a month — an increasing likelihood as the pandemic era drags on — this is your machine. The HP LaserJet Pro M15w is a compact printer that’s a great fit for practical, nonfussy tasks and its tiny footprint, measuring about 8 inches deep and 14 inches wide, fits perfectly on a bookshelf. And at just 8.4 pounds, it makes for a great portable printer for light printing jobs. It’s a wireless printer, so it connects via Wi-Fi to nearly any device, meaning you can even print right from your phone. If the students in your family can live without a scanner — after all, phone cameras can handle most scanning jobs now — and color output, the LaserJet Pro M15w is a great choice for a decent price.

Brother HL-L2395DW

Best black-and-white printer

If you don’t care about color printing, there’s a very good reason to buy a black-and-white printer: There’s only one toner or ink cartridge to refill, which is going to keep your cost per page down.

When Dan Ackerman reviewed this Brother printer in 2018, he found it noteworthy for its combination of low price (at least when it’s on sale), painless setup and operation, and nearly universal customer approval. It’s a monochrome laser printer, so you can’t print color images or photos, but the Brother HL-L2395DW will masterfully handle any black-and-white laser printing job. (Its sibling, the HL-3170CDW, adds color capabilities, but has no scanner or touchscreen.)

This monochrome printer is easy to connect to a Wi-Fi network, and it supports Google Cloud Print and network printing whether you’re using a PC or Mac. And it’s quick: Printing 10 pages from a MacBook took 27 seconds. A seven-page webpage from the Edge browser on a Windows laptop took 36 seconds. Copying a single sheet of paper took 9 seconds.

Brother says the “starter” black toner that comes with the system should be good for 700 printed pages. Like a number of other models we tested, this printer supports Amazon Dash Auto Replenishment, which means it’ll automatically order new toner for you when it’s running low, unless you turn off the feature in your Amazon settings.

Epson Workforce Pro WF-3730 (alternatives available)

Another good home office printer

Update: While the Workforce Pro WF-3730 currently has limited availability at a moderately inflated cost, the WF-3820 and the WF-4820 are suitable replacements and are readily available at a significantly lower price.

The Epson Workforce Pro WF-3730 is full-featured enough to satisfy the demands of a home office, though it’s not as simple to use as others. It’s also a big printer, equipped with two 250-sheet paper trays. That means you can load it up with a ton of paper or dedicate one tray to envelopes or labels.

For the price, this multifunction printer delivers solid print quality. You get bright, surprisingly colorful and subtle photos on plain paper and photo paper — and especially on Epson’s own stock. The Workforce is also quick: It printed an 8.5-by-11 photo faster than any comparably priced printer we tested. And this home office printer option costs less than a host of competitors.

The color choices for PLA 3D printing plastic have always been plentiful. If there’s a shade that you like to print with, there’s likely a PLA roll for you. Innovation in this space has been slow for a while, however, until the creation of Quantum PLA by Matterhackers. If you want to take your 3D printing to the next level, this filament is a must-have.

Right now, Matterhackers has Quantum PLA on sale with a 20% discount, so each roll is under $30 right now. If you’re looking to make some beautiful models that aren’t being painted then I suggest picking up a few of the different rolls. My favorite is the green/purple, but there are a lot of different ones to choose from.

Matterhackers Quantum PLA

$30 at Matterhackers

Unlike most PLA that only has one color in the strand, Quantum is a dual blend that has two colors split evenly down the middle. This gives a really nice transition effect that you can see on the Joker model from Fotis Mint above. It takes a little bit of work to make sure your model is oriented correctly, but once you get the hang of it, Quantum can produce fantastic results.

Be sure to check out our best 3D printer deals if you happen to be looking to upgrade your machine as well.
